The Best Essential Oils to Use This Spring

With springtime, comes the dreaded ‘allergy season’ and sometimes we need a little help from our favorite essential oils to help us to combat the sniffles, headaches and dry skin. With a health conscious routine, you can be proactive about these common feelings of congestion and respiratory irritation that come along with the months of March, April and May. We can also help prepare our bodies for the summer, so we can enter beach season happy and healthy. We’ve put together a list of oils that will help to put a little “spring” literally into your step.

Peppermint Oil

This sinus opening essential oil helps provide relief to those suffering from allergies that can affect the chest, throat, and nasal passages. Placing an essential oils towelette over your face, or even placing a few drops under your nostrils, can offer quick comfort and allow a clear breath of fresh air. That nose that was clogged up due to pollen, suddenly clean and clear! As an added bonus, peppermint oil can be helpful when experiencing a headache caused by either sinus pressure, or one that is stress induced. So, don’t count this oil out at work or in school.

Jasmine Oil

After the harsh winter months, we all need a skin revamp. Jasmine oil helps to hydrate the skin. It has been known to be gentle enough to help with eczema but can also be used on those who do not suffer from this skin condition. If you are in need of a few extra zzz’s, this oil can be calming to those having trouble falling asleep. Another surprising benefit of this essential oil is its soothing quality and ability to relieve anxiety, making those longer days and warmer weather that much better.

Lemon Oil

Known to cleanse the body’s entire system, it helps to rid body toxins. For a fresh start, begin your morning with lemon oil. Lemon oil can help ease stomach aches by helping to reduce heartburn and acidity. With it’s high vitamin content, lemon oil can help stimulate the immune system to fight off sickness. Take lemon oil orally by adding a few drops and a little honey into your water in the morning.

Eucalyptus Oil

Whether ingested or applied topically, this oil helps to break down clogged sinus troubles. Since eucalyptus has anti-microbial properties, it can help to fight an oncoming cold that could be caused by a buildup of mucus started from allergies. With the warm weather tempting us all to get outside and play, there is always the chance for cuts, scrapes, or even attention from unwanted insects. Applying this essential oil onto those wounds or bites will not only soothe the affected area, but help prevent infection as well.

Rose Oil

This anti-microbial oil can be inhaled for aromatherapy benefits, like relaxation, but can also be applied topically as a healthy skin treat. Rose oil can help acne sufferers and also soften skin and improve absorption by promoting skin permeability. So, it can help your skin glisten and glow! Who doesn’t want to look and feel their best, especially as the layers are peeled off in warmer weather?
