Sage Tonic: Out on the Town

Last month, the Sage Tonic team was invited to showcase our newly released mobile app to local influencers and sample our specially-formulated teas and towelettes at Follain in Boston. Welcomed by Tara Foley, Founder & CEO of Follain, and her well-informed team, we had the opportunity to learn a little about what makes Follain, and the brands they carry, so special. Featuring carefully curated beauty products that live up to their credo of being ‘healthy, wholesome, and sound’, Follain delivers a comprehensive and healthy beauty experience for men and women in Boston, Nantucket, and Washington D.C.

With only 11 chemicals banned by the FDA for cosmetic purposes (in contrast the EU has banned over 1,000), Tara knew that she had to provide a healthy and effective option for the woman empowered by knowledge about her health, and what she puts in and on her body. This empowerment doesn’t just stop with the healthy selection of American-made beauty products in each of their stores and online, but is complemented with in-store education from any of their knowledgeable associates. For those who don’t have the pleasure of being able to visit any of their stores, Follain has published a banned substances list complete with explanations for exclusion, and has all of their products available for purchase online.

Also in attendance was Gianne Doherty, founder of Organic Bath Co., one of the 40+ brands sold at Follain, who has made it her mission to give back. As a full-fledged social enterprise, a portion of the profits goes to 1% Percent for the Planet, which helps give money to sustainably-oriented non-profits, and Clean the World, which works to prevent millions of hygiene-related deaths every year by distributing soap discarded by the hospitality industry. We had a chance to smell some of their most coveted products, and it’s clear that their special blend of product and purpose means you can feel good and smell good at the same time!

This fantastic event would not have been made possible without the coordination from The Good Ones, based in Boston. Be sure to check them out for fashionable networking events if you live in the Boston area!
